Barbara Springer describes her near-death experience when she was 12 years old and lost the struggle for life from scarlet fever.
I finally decided to give up and die. I knew I was dying and I was too exhausted to keep trying to fight to hang on to life. So, I let myself slip away.
I could feel myself going out of my body and into a space. The next thing I knew, I was in a black space. At that time, I saw no light. I was just aware that it was black. And it wasn't frightening at all. I was not frightened in the least bit. I felt very comfortable. The space was comforting. Totally.
